Dangerous Surf and Rip Currents for most of the Atlantic Shoreline; Record Heat for the West

Hurricane Erin continues to track northward. Tropical storm force winds, storm surge conditions will increase for the Outer Banks today and portions of coastal Virginia. Life-threatening surf and rip currents along much of the east coast of the U.S. this week. A look at the high temperature forecast for cities around the area. Seasonably cool high temperatures continue today, then our warmup begins Wednesday. Widespread Moderate HeatRisk with areas of Major HeatRisk is expected Thursday and into early next week.
A warmup is in the forecast for NorCal, beginning Wednesday and continuing into the weekend. Here are some helpful hints to remember to help beat the heat!
A Heat Advisory has been issued for the Valley, Delta, foothills, Coast Range, and portions of Shasta County from 11 AM Friday through 11 PM Saturday. Widespread Moderate HeatRisk with areas of Major HeatRisk is expected.
