The above image depicts storm total rainfall (in inches, as estimated by National Weather Service Doppler Radar) from noon on Sunday, August 29th through 8am on Tuesday, August 31st, 2004. The rainfall was caused by moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Gaston interacting with a cold front. The legend is located at the top-left portion of the image.  Areas that received more than 3 inches of rain were hardest hit.

NEW YORK AND NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA. THESE INCLUDE REPORTS FROM OUR 
SPOTTER NETWORK, MESONET SITES, AND COOPERATIVE OBSERVERS. STORM 
TOTALS ARE GENERALLY 48 TO 72 HOUR COLLECTIONS UP UNTIL THE TIME OF 
REPORT. THE NEW RAIN AMOUNTS ARE GENERALLY WITHIN THE PREVIOUS 24
