Last Map Update: Sat, Jan 18, 2025 at 12:02:09 pm CST

We kick off the weekend with scattered to widespread showers streaming across Central Alabama. Rain chances will gradually wane through the afternoon hours. Today will be our last warm for quite day some time with highs settling into low 60s to low 70s.
Colder temps to the region tonight with lows falling into the mid 20s to upper 30s. Those in the southeastern areas will be a bit warmer as the approaching cold front won't move through until Sunday morning. A few snow flurries will be possible after midnight across the north as temps continue to fall as we head into Sunday.
Temperatures on Sunday will be roughly 30° cooler than what we will experience today. Highs will settle into the mid 30s to upper 30s. A brisk northwesterly wind will keep our apparent temperatures in the mid 20s for much of the daytime hours. We continue with low chances for snow flurries through the early afternoon, generally across the northeast.
We are monitoring the potential for winter weather on Tuesday. At this time, the best chance for snow appears to be across the southern half of Alabama, but this is subject to change based on the track of an area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico. What you can do now is monitor the forecast closely, and prepare people, pets, pipes, and plants for cold temperatures.
Frigid temperatures on the way next week, with dangerous wind chill values. Medium to high (40-90%) chances for wind chills less than 10 degrees and temperatures less than 20 degrees Monday morning. Similar conditions expected Tuesday morning. What to do: Limit time outdoors, bring pets indoors, cover all exposed skin, let faucets drip slowly.
