There is a risk of a wintry mix, including freezing rain, affecting the northern half of Central Alabama from Friday night to Sunday night. Some locations will experience wintry precipitation longer than others, and many will fluctuate between precipitation types throughout the event. Still in question are how much of Central Alabama is affected by the worst conditions and the level of impacts. A shot of frigid air will move in behind this weather system. Check back for forecast updates. Preparations for impacts may become necessary.
Showers arrive to locations northwest of Interstate 85 through the course of this afternoon. High temperatures will be in the 50s most areas with southerly winds up to 10 mph.
Periods of showers are expected tonight with low temperatures in the 40s.
Periods of showers continue on Thursday with high temperatures in the 50s most areas, some 60s south of Interstate 85.
