At least one home was flooded on Mercury Road, the
homeowner needed to be rescued. The entire area along
the roads of Mercury, Hamlin, and Atlanta Drive was
flooded with a combination of salt and fresh water. An
estimated 30-40 homes were surrounded by floodwaters
with the occupants sheltering in place.

observed at the Charleston Harbor tide gage. Major
coastal flooding typically begins along the coasts of
Charleston and Colleton counties when tide levels reach
8.0 FT MLLW (2.24 ft MHHW) in the Charleston Harbor.
This is the fourth highest tide on record and the
highest non-tropical tide on record for this location.

elevated tide and heavy rainfall, water from Toomer
Creek Marsh has risen well into backyards along Sonja
Way and Bloomingdale Lane in the Marsh Walk subdivision

this area since the October 2015 flood and Hurricane
Matthew.

Facebook page. Pictures and video show water still
