Survey Summary:
The initial damage appeared near Speedwell Methodist Church near
the intersection of Millett Road and Little Hell Road around
9:44 AM. Damage at the beginning of the tornado path consisted of
a few uprooted trees. The tornado tracked northeast across a very
large field, crossing Furse Mill Road. A well-built outbuilding
along Furse Mill Road had its roof removed, with several nearby
large pine trees either snapped or uprooted. The tornado then
damaged a family farm off of Highway 125, peeling tin roof
material off of 4 to 5 pole barns and garages. Additional tree
damage was noted in the area, but some of the damage was likely
associated with Hurricane Helene. The tornado then reached a home
site near the intersection of Patterson Mill Drive and Ellis
Road. Two very large trees were uprooted in the front yard of the
house, with some additional tree damage in the backyard. The
track of the tornado damage ended along Ellis Road in a forested
area. A clear convergent pattern was noted with numerous snapped
or uprooted hardwoods.
