Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
343 AM CST Tue Feb 18 2020

The rain did switch over to snow over northern Iowa late Monday
afternoon resulting in 1 to 3 inches in many places over far north
central into northeast Iowa. As a cold front swept through the state
late yesterday, winds became from the northwest and turned gusty with
wind gusts to around 40 mph common. Winds are still brisk from the
northwest early this morning with sustained winds of 10 to 20 mph and
gusts to around 25 mph. The low clouds associated with the wintry
precipitation yesterday were over eastern Iowa and pushing out of the
state while there was a new area of patchy low clouds arriving over
northwest Iowa. Temperatures ranged from the teens in a few places
over north central Iowa to the 20s elsewhere in the state.

Other than some flurries or light snow on Wednesday that will be
focused over the western part of Iowa into Nebraska, the rest of the
week will be dry. Temperatures will be trending colder by about 15 to
20 degrees today compared to yesterday with even colder air expected
on Wednesday into Thursday morning. However, this will be a relative
quick shot of frigid air with milder air returning by Friday and even
more so on Saturday with highs in the 30s or 40s both days.
