Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
1024 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2020

It has been a cool, dry, and quiet morning across the region.
North winds around 10 mph have kept temperatures climbing slowly
through the 20s and into the lower 30s. Skies have largely cleared in
northern and western Iowa but remain mostly cloudy in the south and
east at this hour.

Dry and quiet weather will continue for the remainder of the weekend,
with temperatures again falling into the upper 20s and lower 30s
overnight tonight but then climbing into the mid 50s to lower 60s by
Sunday afternoon amid mostly sunny skies. This warming trend will
increase dramatically in the early part of the coming week, peaking on
Tuesday afternoon when temperatures will near record levels with highs
in the 70s north to lower 80s south. The warming will be accompanied
by some showers and thunderstorms, mainly on Monday into Monday night,
but severe weather appears unlikely at this time. Cooler weather will
then return in the latter half of the week, with daily high
temperatures Thursday through Saturday in the upper 40s to mid 50s and
rain chances returning at times.
