Heavy Rainfall and Flooding in South Florida and the Southern Rockies

A stationary front will continue to bring heavy to excessive rainfall to South Florida into Saturday with localized and urban flooding possible. Heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast through Saturday over the southern Rockies into the southern Plains. Instances of flash flooding are possible, especially in higher terrain and burn scars. April 20, 1973

Just after 6 p.m. on April 20, a F3 tornado touched down in Scotland County Missouri. The tornado started approximately 3 miles southwest of Arbela, MO and moved to the northeast towards Prospect Grove, MO. The tornado traveled to the northeast and was on the ground for about 9 miles. 

There were no reports of injuries or fatalities with this particular storm. Around seven houses were damaged on the east side of Arbela and a gas station was leveled when the tornado moved through the area. Total damage estimates from the storm were around $250,000.
