Overview

A strong storm system tracked from eastern Kansas on April 10 to southwestern Michigan on the evening of April 11th. This storm system brought several rounds of moderate to heavy to eastern Iowa, northwest Illinois, and far northeast Missouri. The heaviest rains of 2 to 3 inches fell from Memphis Missouri northeastward to Burlington Iowa to Geneseo and Sterling, Rock Falls Illinois. This included the Quad Cities. A daily rainfall record of 2.55 inches fell at the Moline Quad Cities Airport on Saturday April 10th with 2.90 inches total for the event. This rainfall in conjunction with 2 to 3 inches falling since April 7th lead to ponding of water in fields and quickly rising streams, creeks, rivers and ponds across the area. Roads were closed along the Edwards River in Henry Count Illinois.
