Above Average Temperatures for the West and Central Plains; Lake Effect Snow Continues

Well above average temperatures will prevail across the Plains and the West Coast this week, while a cold front will bring Arctic air to the South and East Coast Thursday and Friday. Overview

Strong thunderstorms developed along and ahead of a warm front that lifted north into eastern Iowa and northern Illinois Wednesday afternoon and evening. Several funnel clouds were reported with these storms, and 3 brief tornadoes touched down in Bureau county in Illinois, with little to no damage.  Additional tornadoes developed further east in Lee and La Salle counties in northern Illinois.
