Larger events that occurred across north and central Georgia this past January can be found here.

January 1st: A storm system triggered four short-lived tornadoes across parts of central Georgia during the afternoon of New Year's Day. More information on this event can be found in the Public Information Statement that summarizes the event.

January 8th: A winter storm brought 1-3 inches of snow across the Northeast Georgia mountains.

January 26th: The first Tornado Watch of 2021 was issued for portions of western Georgia out ahead of a line of severe weather. There were numerous reports of storm damage across the southwestern Atlanta suburbs. This event began as a tornado threat, primarily over eastern Mississippi and central Alabama. The environment allowed for a number of tornadic supercells to form, which evolved into a line of storms that moved into Georgia late that night and into the morning hours of the 27th.
