Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central Georgia

The exiting cold front will usher in gusty NW winds and a drier
airmass across the region. North and central GA will see NW winds
this afternoon in the 10-15mph range with gust to to 25mph. May
see gust to 30mph across the higher elevations of the north GA
mountains. This Northerly flow will also bring in cooler/drier
conditions with afternoon relative humidity values in the 25% to
35% range. Because of the rain most of the area received
yesterday Fuel moistures should stay above critical levels but
they will dry out some with the low RH values and gusty winds.
With all this in mind will be issuing a fire danger statement for
this afternoon mainly due to the expected gusty winds. Winds are
not expected to be as strong Friday but RH values will dip down
into the 20-30% range Fri afternoon so may need another fire
danger statement to end the work week. Moisture begins to push
back into the area Sat so not expecting any fire weather concerns
through the weekend.
