Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central Georgia
National Weather Service Peachtree City GA
226 PM EDT Tue Mar 24 2026

.DISCUSSION...

...HIGH FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING
FOR PARTS OF NORTH GEORGIA DUE TO LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES...

Have adjusted the relative humidity (RH) forecast for this
afternoon and evening to align better with observations so far
today. The Fire Danger Statement area remains on track, but a
couple hours of RH observations between 20% and 25% can be
expected across west-central Georgia (outside of the Fire Danger
Statement) where conditions are drier than previously forecast.
20-foot winds will be easterly to southeasterly at 5-10 mph with
gusts to around 20 mph.

20-foot winds will relax overnight and should remain somewhat
light (3-8 mph) out of the east to southeast tomorrow (Wednesday)
afternoon. Between today and tomorrow, today will bring stronger
transport winds and greater mixing heights. Dewpoints (and thus
RH) are expected to increase tomorrow, making for minimum RH
ranging from around 35% to around 50% in the afternoon.
