Chattooga County Flash Flooding

September 4th-  A stalled front across the Tennessee River Valley combined with a saturated atmosphere resulted in a long duration of training storms. PW values in the 90th percentile combined with near 2000J/KG of CAPE primed the environment to generate efficient rainfall producers. Effective bulk shear around 25 knots was enough to support heavy downpours that migrated from the SSW to the NNE. Some of these storms were capable of producing over 3" an hour. As a result, a Flash Flood Emergency was issued for western Chattooga County including the town of Summerville. Radar estimates indicate that nearly 13 inches of rain fell over a 24 hour period.
