National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

It'll be hot and humid across North and Central Texas on Thursday. Afternoon high temperatures will climb into the upper 90s to near 100 degrees across Central Texas. Heat Index values will climb into the 102 to 107 degree range. Remember to exercise your heat safety rules: Drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heating! Ensure that you check up on the disabled and elderly! Check the backseat for pets and small children and NEVER leave them in vehicles unattended!
Near normal temperatures with highs in the mid 90s and lows in the mid 70s will continue on Friday and into the weekend. Other than some slight shower and thunderstorm chances near the Red River, partly cloudy skies can be expected. On Sunday Night, rain and thunderstorm chances may increase north of a Stephenville to Emory line as a cold front moves into the Southern Plains.
As the heat and humidity returns once again, be sure to practice heat safety wherever you are!
Drought-parched soils soaked up much of the recent rainfall, but runoff added water to many area lakes. The one-week change in lake level (August 8 to 15) is shown in inches. If the change was less than 1/2 inch, "no change" is listed. The percent of conservation is based on the current water volume in the lake.
