Severe Weather in the Central Plains; Fire Concerns in the Southern High Plains and Southwest; Late-Season Mountain Snow

Severe storms, including large hail, wind, and perhaps a couple of tornadoes, are possible in the central Plains. Dry, windy conditions and lightning from dry thunderstorms may produce hazardous fire conditions in the Southwest and southern High Plains. 2024 Monthly/Annual Weather Recap/Extremes for Grand Island, Hastings, and Kearney:

In the Nebraska Tri Cities, a few of the top weather/climate stories during 2024 included:
- A cold and snowy January...although the worst of the cold was highly concentrated during the middle-third of the month
An incredibly-mild February...3rd-warmest on record at all 3 sites
- A very dry September...among Top-5 Driest at all 3 sites
- Considerably MORE ANNUAL PRECIPITATION versus 2023 at Grand Island and to a lesser extent Hastings...Grand Island received an incredible 11.93" MORE PRECIPITATION than during 2023!
