Be prepared to take action if a Flash Flood Warning is issued. If you experience heavy rain or rising waters, head to higher ground immediately. It doesn't have to be raining heavy where you are for you to experience flash flooding.

Deep moisture will remain over the state through tonight, bringing the potential for additional heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding. Additional heavy rainfall over windward Maui could cause the failure of the Kaupakalua Dam near Haiku, where water levels remain above normal. Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. If the Kaupakalua Dam were to fail, a life-threatening flood wave could occur downstream of the dam.
