System Upgrade

The National Weather Service in Wichita, KS will be conducting a required, scheduled update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing system(AWIPS) from June 2nd through June 4th. 

 

During the time of the update, forecasts operations will be conducted by our back-up office in Topeka, KS to minimize any potential interruption to services. No impacts to our core services of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and advisories are expected during this period. However, limited impacts will occur to the following services:

NOAA Weather Radio Transmitters: All NOAA Weather Radio Transmitters maintained by NWS Wichita will be off the air through the time of the update. This includes the following transmitters:

Wichita (KEC-59 - 162.550 MHz)

Beaumont (WWH-22 - 162.500 MHz)

Sharon (WZ-2511 - 162.400)

Erie (WXK-95 - 162.400)

Ellsworth (WXK-95 - 162.400)

Great Bend (KPS-511 - 162.500)

 

 

AWIPS-dependent products on our web page, weather.gov/wichita: Any graphic or text that relies on our AWIPS for generation and/or distribution will not be available on our web page. Examples include the following:
