Office Tour Policy

Strict guidelines are in place for tours of government offices. Here are the tour policies for the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington Forecast Office. Please review the below rules to make sure your group is eligible prior to submitting a tour request.

  • Tours are for adults & children aged 12 and higher.     For children under 12, click here.

    • At least 1 adult chaperone is required for each 10 children.

    • Children younger than 12 years old are not allowed.

  • Tours are by appointment only and must be made at least 1 month in advance.

    • If you are organizing a tour for a group (i.e. Girl Scouts, etc), please fill out this tour request form.

    • For non-organizational tours (i.e. for your family or you as an individual), we have pre-determined days we conduct tours. Please fill out this tour request form.

  • Groups of 40 or less, however groups of 20+ will be broken into two.

  • Everyone must be a U.S. citizen.

  • A photo ID (for adults) is required.

Someone from the office will respond within 1-3 business days concerning your request.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Tour Coordinator, Chesnea Skeen at chesnea.skeen@noaa.gov or by calling 571-888-3501.

NOTE: Since we are primarily an operational facility, tours will be cancelled for inclement weather so that we can focus on protecting the community from weather threats. Therefore...

  • Tours will be conducted on "fair weather" days only.  If severe weather, winter weather or flooding ends up being expected on the day of your visit, your tour will be rescheduled and/or cancelled.

  • You will be required to call the Lead Forecaster, at 703-996-2000, on duty the day before your scheduled visit to receive the final confirmation for your tour. (It is at this time your tour would be cancelled for inclement weather.)

  • Failure to coordinate with the Lead Forecaster on Duty the day before your tour can result in the cancellation of your tour, even if no inclement weather is forecast.
