Chances for isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast again today across western and northwest sections of the state. While the threat for seeing severe weather should remain low, an isolated strong storm could be seen. Gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall may be seen with the strongest storms.
More widespread showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday as well, with better chances further east.
Recent rainfall has allowed for some improvement in drought conditions across the state. The most widespread improvements occurred across portions of north-central to northeast Arkansas.
On this day in 1981, a period of rain and flooding began with six inches common over the course of several days. The southern half of the state saw the highest amounts.
