For a quick idea how rivers are behaving across Arkansas (in the Little Rock Hydrologic Area), use the table below. To make it clear what colors are displayed, they are represented with letters ("g" is green [no flood], "y" is yellow [near flood stage], "o" is orange [minor flood], "r" is red [moderate flood], and "p" is purple [major flood]). Hydrographs (showing stages and flows over time) are available through AHPS (Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service) by clicking site names.

Note: If you wish, use the check boxes below to build your own table. Pick your points and click "Make River Table!".

Nationwide, statistics show that more than half of flood/flash flood related deaths occur in automobiles. If flood waters are between you and your destination, the National Weather Service wants you to remember a simple slogan: "Turn Around Don't Drown" TM.

Turn Around Don't Drown logo To raise awareness, a limited number of flood safety signs have been made available to communities in Arkansas.

This is a partnership between the National Weather Service and the Arkansas Floodplain Management Association, Inc. Since 2018, more than fifty signs have been delivered and erected in flood prone areas.
