Heat index values of 100 degrees or greater will be possible across the state by this weekend. Heat-related illnesses will set in quickly under the forecast hazardous heat, and precautions should be taken for any outdoor plans and activities.
The pattern is looking much more summer like towards the end of the week with very warm and humid conditions expected for Friday through Sunday. Heat advisories may be needed.
Temperatures inside a locked car can deadly and it really doesn't take that long for it to happen. Always remember to beat the heat and check the back seat!
On June 16th, 1833, the AR River was experiencing major flooding from Ft. Smith to Little Rock to Pine Bluff. The river at Little Rock crested at 34.6 feet which remains the record to the day. For comparisons sake, the river crested at 29.7 feet during the flood of 2019.
