Warm weather continues and heat index values will moderate through the weekend into early next week. Heat index values should range from 100 to around or just below 105 degrees.
The pattern across Arkansas does not favor precipitation over the next several days as both upper level high pressure and surface high pressure remain in control. Precipitation that was observed over the past few weeks was scattered in nature but now it looks like all locations are going to get dry. Low end rain chances do finally return by Monday.
Vegetation is starting to dry out across the Natural State, and after this past month, it's not very surprising. Much of the region was well below normal for rainfall, and unfortunately, dry conditions look to persist, with very little rainfall expected over the next week.
The local forecast remains dry and settled through this week, however, you may have noticed increasing attention towards the tropics. As we move into August, we are headed towards peak climatological tropical activity in the Atlantic.
