...A REVIEW OF 2020 WEATHER AND CLIMATE DATA FOR NORTH LITTLE ROCK...

SUMMARY
======================================================================
AT NORTH LITTLE ROCK, 2020 WAS THE COLDEST YEAR SINCE 2018. THIS WAS
LARGELY DUE TO HIGHS BEING COOLER THAN AVERAGE. DAYS WITH FREEZING
TEMPERATURES ONLY AMOUNTED TO 30 DURING THE YEAR. BY THAT SAME
TOKEN, THERE WERE 48 90-DEGREE DAYS, AND THIS WAS THE FIFTH YEAR IN
A ROW WITH NO 100-DEGREE DAYS.

SPEAKING OF 100-DEGREE DAYS, WE ARE NOW 2,338 DAYS SINCE THE LAST
ONE WAS RECORDED AT NORTH LITTLE ROCK (AUGUST 9, 2015). THIS
CONTINUES A RECORD STREAK OF NO 100-DEGREE DAYS, WITH THE PREVIOUS
RECORD BEING 1,080 DAYS FROM AUGUST 9, 2012 TO JULY 24, 2015.

IN TERMS OF DEPARTURES FROM NORMAL (OR COMPARISON WITH THE 30-YEAR
AVERAGE), JANUARY WAS MOST SIGNIFICANTLY WARM, WITH A DEPARTURE OF
+2.8 DEGREES, WHILE APRIL WAS MOST SIGNIFICANTLY COLD, WITH A
DEPARTURE OF -3.6 DEGREES. IN TERMS OF ACTUAL TEMPERATURES, JULY WAS
WARMEST AND DECEMBER WAS COLDEST.

THOUGH THE AVERAGE ANNUAL RAINFALL WAS THE LEAST IN THE LAST THREE
YEARS, 2020 WAS STILL SIGNIFICANTLY ABOVE AVERAGE IN TERMS OF
PRECIPITATION. IN FACT, IT IS THE 8TH WETTEST YEAR ON RECORD AT
NORTH LITTLE ROCK.

SNOWFALL CONTINUED TO RUN WELL BELOW AVERAGE, BUT FOR THE FIRST TIME
IN TWO YEARS, IT WAS ACTUALLY MEASURABLE. SNOW FELL IN JANUARY,
FEBRUARY AND DECEMBER. HAIL WAS RECORDED IN MARCH AND APRIL.
