The weather pattern will be undergoing a change starting as early as Sunday. Upper level high pressure will be building over the area and dominating through the week. This pattern promises to bring hot and humid conditions to the state with little if any chance of precipitation.
Forecast heat index values are expected to peak in the 90s to well over 100 degrees Sunday (6/28) and Monday (6/29). The hottest conditions are expected generally along the Arkansas River Valley and Mississippi Delta regions of the state.
The overall heat risk outlook shows increasing heat risk threat in the coming days, with the most excessively hot conditions expected Tuesday into Thursday.
Dangerous heat will be building over the region this week and now would be a good time to remember that the temperature inside a car with closed windows can become deadly in a short amount of time. Remember, beat the heat, check the back seat!
