...A COLD NIGHT IS IN STORE FOR THOSE WITHOUT POWER IN NORTH ARKANSAS...

AT LAST REPORT...ENTERGY ARKANSAS AND THE ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES OF
ARKANSAS INDICATED THAT MORE THAN 150 THOUSAND ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS
IN ARKANSAS WERE WITHOUT POWER. THE VAST MAJORITY OF THESE OUTAGES
WERE IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE STATE...WHERE FREEZING RAIN HAS
BEEN OCCURRING SINCE MONDAY NIGHT.

ENTERGY REPORTED THAT 73 PERCENT OF THEIR CUSTOMERS IN THE YELLVILLE
AREA WERE WITHOUT POWER...61 PERCENT IN THE HARRISON AREA HAD NO
POWER...AND 45 PERCENT OF CUSTOMERS IN THE MOUNTAIN VIEW AREA HAD
NO ELECTRICITY.

A VERY COLD NIGHT IS IN STORE FOR THOSE WITHOUT POWER...AND FOR
THE ELECTRIC CREWS WORKING TO RESTORE POWER. TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST
TO DROP INTO THE TEENS AND LOWER 20S...WITH WINDS AVERAGING 8 TO
12 MPH. PRECAUTIONS WILL NEED TO BE TAKEN AGAINST THIS COLD WEATHER.
IN AREAS WHERE SHELTERS HAVE BEEN OPENED...RESIDENTS MAY WISH TO
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SHELTERS RATHER THAN REMAIN IN COLD DARK HOUSES
WITH NO POWER.
