Elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions expected today across the southeast New Mexico Plains and Culberson County Plains. Outdoor burning of any kind is not recommended, and report to fire and emergency officials if you see a fire!

A High Wind Watch is in effect from 10 AM CDT/9 AM MDT Tuesday morning until 10 PM CDT/9 PM MDT Tuesday evening for the Guadalupe Mountains of west Texas and southeast New Mexico including Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Strong winds will make travel difficult, especially for high profile vehicles!

A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from noon until 8 PM MDT for Chaves and Lea counties in southeast New Mexico. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings!

Another day of warm weather and low rain/storm chances. A storm or two may become strong bringing the threat of damaging winds and large hail.
