MOST OF THE MISSOURI BASIN REPORTED BELOW AVERAGE PRECIPITATION
DURING JUNE.  ALSO, STREAMFLOW DATA INDICATES THE FLOWS FOR THE
MONTH JUNE WERE BELOW AVERAGE.

PRECIPITATION IN THE MISSOURI BASIN DURING JUNE RANGED FROM BELOW
AVERAGE TO ABOVE AVERAGE, WITH MOST OF THE BASIN REPORTING BELOW
AVERAGE PRECIPITATION. PRECIPITATION IN MONTANA RANGED FROM ABOVE
TO BELOW AVERAGE, WITH AMOUNTS RANGING FROM A 11 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE (0.27 IN.)AT PLEVA, MONTANA TO 262 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
(4.00 IN.) SUN RIVER 4SSW, MONTANA. PRECIPITATION IN WYOMING
WAS GENERALY BELOW AVERAGE WITH REPORTS RANGING FROM A 1 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE (0.02 IN.) AT CASPER, WYOMING TO 127 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
(2.91 IN.) AT LARMAR RANGER STATION, WYOMING. PRECIPITATION
IN NORTHEASTERN COLORADO WAS GENERALLY BELOW AVERAGE, WITH REPORTS
RANGING FROM 7 PERCENT OF AVERAGE (0.10 IN.) AT GEORGETOWN
3SSW, COLORADO TO 182 PERCENT OF AVERAGE (4.22 IN.)
AT GENOA 1W, COLORADO.

June 2006 Basin Mean Precipitation


STORED WATER IN THE SOUTH PLATTE BASIN AS OF JULY 1 WAS 76
PERCENT OF AVERAGE. STORED WATER IN THE WAS 58 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. BOYSEN RESERVOIR HELD 70
PERCENT OF AVERAGE JULY 1 STORAGE WHILE BUFFALO BILL RESERVOIR
HELD 166 PERCENT. OF THE FOUR MAJOR IRRIGATION RESERVOIRS
IN MONTANA, LIMA RESERVOIR HAD 143 PERCENT AVERAGE STORAGE;
CLARK CANYON WAS HOLDING 64 PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, GIBSON
RESERVOIR HAD 96 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER AND FRESNO
RESERVOIR HAD 107 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER. OF THE
THREE MAJOR HYDROELECTRIC RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA, CANYON FERRY
AND FORT PECK HAD MONTHEND STORAGE IN THE AVERAGE RANGE; 99
AND 62 PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, RESPECTIVELY. BIGHORN RESERVOIR
WAS HOLDING 80 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER.

 

RUNOFF DURING JUNE, AS INDICATED BY U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY LONG
TERM GAGING STATIONS, WAS BELOW AVERAGE. THE MARIAS RIVER
NEAR SHELBY, MONTANA HAD 84 PERCENT OF AVERAGE RUNOFF.
THE YELLOWSTONE RIVER WAS ESTIMATED TO HAVE HAD 87 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE RUNOFF AT CORWIN SPRINGS, WHILE AT BILLINGS, MONTANA
RUNOFF WAS 72 PERCENT OF AVERAGE.
