A Heat Advisory has been issued for all of east central Florida today from 11 AM through 7 PM. Isolated to numerous showers and lightning storms are forecast this afternoon and evening. Lightning strikes, heavy downpours, and wind gusts to 55 mph will be possible. A moderate risk of rip currents continues at the beaches. Always swim near a life guard and never swim alone.

Still hot Friday, and while temperatures and heat indices forecast to drop a few degrees, widespread HeatRisk impacts will continue. A little relief is expected this weekend, but temperatures will remain near to above normal.
Click/tap image to enlarge | There is a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for severe thunderstorms across portions of East Central Florida Friday, including Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Brevard, most of Osceola, and portions of northern Indian River counties. Primary threats are isolated damaging wind gusts to 60 mph (14% chance or less), locally heavy rainfall leading to minor flooding, hail up to 1", and deadly lightning. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out (less than 2% chance).

Treat by moving to a cooler area, loosening clothing, and sipping water. Seek medical help if symptoms don't improve. Heat exhaustion can lead to head stroke. A person suffering from heat stroke will exhibit confusing, dizziness, won't be sweating, and may become unconscious. Heat stroke is life threatening! Call 911, move the person to a cooler area, loosen clothing and remove extra layers, and cool the body with water or ice.
