Isolated showers and lightning storms first form along the east coast sea breeze, then develop across the interior by mid to late afternoon as the west coast sea breeze races eastward. Highest coverage and intensity of showers and storms will stack up across the eastern peninsula late today and into the evening. Gusty winds, frequent lightning, small hail, and torrential downpours are possible. Activity will push toward the coast and dissipate by around mid evening.
There is a Minor to Moderate HeatRisk over ECFL today with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s and peak heat index values between 99-104°F forecast. A Minor Heat Risk affects individuals extremely sensitive to heat, especially when outdoors without effect cooling and/or hydration. Strong to Marginally severe lightning storms are forecast on Thursday, with greatest threat from near Titusville to Kissimmee northward. Gusty to potentially damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, coin-size hail, and torrential downpours will be the main threats.
