Frigid Airmass to Bring Significantly Colder Temperatures; Snow Continues Downwind of the Great Lakes

A frigid cold airmass will bring significantly colder weather across the eastern two thirds of the country early this week. Record low temperatures are expected in the Southeast by Tuesday morning. Generally benign weather conditions to start the work week with light showers on Monday and dry conditions Tuesday. The next Pacific weather system will impact the region Wednesday through Friday with mainly rain in the valleys. Precipitation will start as rain on the mountain passes Wednesday into Thursday then transition to snow Thursday evening into Friday. Be prepared for winter travel conditions. The cold front on Thursday will also deliver a period of gusty westerly winds.
