Tracking Atmospheric River in the Northwest U.S. and Clipper with Winter Weather in the Northeast U.S.

A prolonged atmospheric river will continue to bring gusty winds, heavy rainfall which may lead to urban and river flooding with possible landslides, and heavy inter-mountain snow over the Pacific Northwest into the northern Rockies through Thursday. A warm and wet storm will continue this week, bringing a chance of mud and rockslides in steep terrain and burn scars to Chelan County. A Flood Watch is in effect through Friday morning. Moderate to heavy rain will lead to excessive runoff and subsequent flooding of rivers and creeks.
An extended period of moderate to heavy rain and snowmelt is in the forecast for North ID through Thursday. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas. In addition, there will be an increased risk for rock slides in steep terrain. A Flood Watch is in effect through Friday afternoon.
Another round of strong southwesterly winds is expected Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. Sustained speeds of 20 to 35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph are anticipated for the Columbia Basin, Palouse, Spokane/CdA area, and Blue Mountains.
