Cold Temperatures Across the Northern High Plains; Winter Storms to Impact the Central Plains and Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday.

Arctic high pressure will usher in well below normal temperatures across the northern High Plains. Lake effect snow will drop up to a foot of snow downwind of Lake Ontario today. Two winter storms will begin to bring snow and a wintry mix to the Central Plains and the Mid-Atlantic by mid-day Tuesday. Unprotected livestock will be at risk from bitterly cold temperatures coming up this week. Brisk north winds Monday through Tuesday will make temperatures feel even colder with wind chill values of -5 to -15 common across the region, especially those areas more exposed to northerly winds.
Expect cold conditions through Thursday this week, with lows as cold as the single digits to below zero and highs only warming into the lower 20s for most locations.
