Expect periods of gusty southwest winds across the Inland Northwest late in the weekend, particularly across the Palouse, Columbia Basin, Waterville Plateau, & Spokane area. Localized pockets of up to 50 mph gusts may develop across exposed portions of the Columbia Basin, but gusts of 25-40 mph should be more common.
A cold and wet pattern is in store for the very end of this week through mid next week. Sunday night through Thursday, there are increasing chances for moderate to heavy mountain snow in the Cascades and Idaho Panhandle Mountains. Additionally, colder temperatures will result in lowering snow levels, giving some lowland areas a chance at light snow. Ways to take precautions now include preparing for wintry travel across mountain passes next week, and keeping updated on the forecast!
