Heavy Rainfall to Bring Flooding Threat to California; Heavy Snow in the Sierra

A strong atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall to California through the holiday week. The heaviest rainfall is expected on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash and urban flooding is possible. A prolonged heavy snowfall is expected in the Sierra Nevada from the atmospheric river, raising concerns for major snow‐load impacts. Heads up, everybody! There are increasing chances for freezing rain in the Waterville Plateau tomorrow morning. With freezing rain, icy and slick roads have the potential to impact the morning commute. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 3-9am tomorrow.
This week's weather will feature periodic mountain snow and lowland rain and snow each day. Breezy conditions are also forecast heading into Wednesday and again for Friday.
High wind warning in effect from 7 AM to 2 PM Wednesday. Wind gust of 50 to 60 mph are forecast, with localized gusts to 70 mph possible. Damaging wind gusts and localized power outages possible.
