Record Heat Remains in Place This Week; Precipitation and Windy Conditions in the Northwest

Record warmth will persist across portions of California, the Southwest U.S., the central Great Basin and spread across the central U.S. for the middle of the week. High temperatures will approach 90 from Texas to the Ohio Valley.   Overview

December 21, 2017  A strong cold front pushed south across Wyoming Wednesday afternoon and evening.  Strong north winds accompanied the front with the Buffalo Airport recording a peak wind gust of 54 mph Wednesday evening. The heaviest snow fell across the WInd River Basin and in the Casper area Wednesday night, with over 8 inches of snow measured in Lander, and nearly 7 inches of snow reported at the Natrona International Airport in Casper.
