March 2020 Regional Climate Summary for Western / Central Wyoming

The March 2020 climate summaries for Big Piney, Buffalo, Casper, Greybull, Lake Yellowstone, Lander, Riverton, Rock Springs, and Worland are now available online.

March was fairly dry across the Cowboy State with the exception of Casper and Lake Yellowstone, the only locations to exceed normal monthly precipitation. Greybull tied with 2009 for the driest March on record. There were a few daily precipitation and snowfall records broken in March to include Lander on the 1st of the month. Those records go back to 1892. The temperatures were a mix of above and below average temperatures for the month, however the difference from normal was less than 2 degrees everywhere. No location stood our for record breaking temperatures, although there were a few daily records broken. Also of note, Casper had their coldest day on the 1st and warmest day on the 31st. Across the board the coldest day was the 1st or 2nd, with the exception of Lake Yellowstone which dropped to 14 below on the 27th also breaking the daily record. The most popular date for warmest temperature was the 31st, although there were other dates too.

You can then find the Daily Climate Report (CLI), the Preliminary Monthly Climate Data (CF6), the Monthly Weather Summary (CLM), and the Regional Summary (RTP). The Daily Climate Report will have the weather data for the day (from midnight to 1159 pm). The Monthly Climate Data (CF6) will have this data for each day of the month, compiling all the daily data into one form. The Regional Summary will have temperature and precipitation data for various locations across the state, updated 3 times a day.
