Areas of Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall through This Weekend

Several rounds of severe thunderstorms are ongoing and expected from the central and southern High Plains to the Southeast U.S. through Sunday. Large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes will be possible.   Overview

A fast moving weather system spread moderate to heavy snow across portions of Central and Western WY Christmas weekend. Blizzard conditions occurred in northern Johnson county with this storm Christmas day into the evening hours. Interstate 90 was closed Christmas afternoon until Monday morning. Blowing and drifting snow created numerous road closures in Central Wyoming Christmas night until Monday morning. Downtown Riverton had a record snowfall on Christmas day with 7.8 inches while 7 inches occurred at the Riverton airport.
