Atmospheric River Bringing Heavy Rain to Southern California and Heavy Snow to the Sierra Nevadas

A strong atmospheric river will continue heavy rain over southern California through Friday. The heaviest rainfall is ongoing today in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash and urban flooding is possible. A prolonged heavy snowfall has begun over the Sierra Nevada Mountains and will continue through Friday. Travel will become increasingly difficult over the passes due to snow and strong winds. SYNOPSIS:

The Thanksgiving Holiday winter storm will push east Saturday night bringing an end to the snow and wind. Several roads continue to be closed across Wyoming and no unnecessary travel has been posted for numerous other roads. Conditions will improve dramatically Sunday with dry conditions expected. However, increasing southwest wind may create areas of blowing snow Sunday across central and southern Wyoming.

IMPACTS:

Holiday travel will be difficult to nearly impossible across central and eastern areas
Road closures across much of eastern Wyoming today (please see wyoroad.info for the latest road conditions)
Airline delays likely with cancellations possible across the central and eastern airport terminals.
