 Fire Weather Planning Forecast
 National Weather Service Charleston WV
 341 AM EST Fri Jan 2 2026

 .DISCUSSION...
A weak disturbance crossing the area will bring a light wintry mix
of snow and freezing rain to the northern mountains, and will lead
to continued slick travel in these areas.

Outside of these northern mountains, drier weather is anticipated
tonight, although a few light snow showers are possible across
northern and central parts of West Virginia. Low temperatures across
the area tonight will generally range from the teens to the 20s.

A system passes by to our south Friday night into Saturday,
spreading light precipitation into southern and eastern areas. Most
of this precipitation should be in the form of rain, but a brief
period of freezing rain cannot be ruled out in any areas that stay
 stuck below freezing..

Sunday will be dry but staying chilly, with warmer weather returning
 for Monday.
