In order to support our core partner's ever-changing and complex decisions to ensure public safety and the effective use of resources, NWS Charleston, WV offers Impact-Based Decision Support Services (IDSS).  IDSS can include forecast advice and interpretive services when weather, water, or climate has a direct impact on the protection of lives and property, can be recurring or episodic, and delivered remotely or on-site.

 
Who can request IDSS?

 

NWS Core Partners are government and non-government entities which are directly involved in the preparation, dissemination and discussions involving weather, water or climate-related NWS information, that supports decision making for routine or episodic, high-impact events.  This includes:

  • Emergency Management community
  • Government partners
  • Water Resources Management community
