 National Weather Service Charleston WV

 .DISCUSSION...
Arctic high pressure will maintain frigid weather to finish the
weekend, low temperatures this morning and Monday morning in the
single digits either side of zero. High temperatures today will only
be slightly higher than on Saturday.

Furthermore, a flat clipper system is likely to bring a band of
light snow from the Huntington tri-state area down along the Tug
Fork and the southern coalfields of West Virginia this morning. While
light, with the very low temperatures, any snow accumulation at all
will affect roadways, possibly even where treated, creating slick
 conditions.

A significant warm-up is forecast for early next week. A cold front
could bring rain showers Tuesday night into early Wednesday,
followed by slightly below normal temperatures and dry weather
through Thursday, although these temperatures will still be a
significant departure from the well-below normal temperatures of the
 past three weeks.

Systems could then bring rain and snow later in the week, as
 temperatures return to near normal.

This weather pattern should promote an orderly melt of the snowpack
 through the week.
