 Fire Weather Planning Forecast
 National Weather Service Charleston WV
 248 PM EDT Tue Jul 14 2026

 .DISCUSSION...
Hot and dry weather will continue for Wednesday and Thursday. High
temperatures will reach the 90s in the lower elevations, but hazy
skies from distant wildfire smoke should keep the heat index
generally below the triple digit mark.

Rain and thunderstorm chances return as early as Friday afternoon
and will last through the weekend as a cold front moves into the
area. Some of these storms could produce heavy downpours that may
lead to localized flooding, along with some strong wind gusts.
