 .DISCUSSION...
Today and tonight will feature dry weather, as high pressure
slides just north of the area, but today will not as warm as
Friday, with a low overcast through much of the day.

The chance for showers returns with a warm front moving up from the
southwest on Sunday, with the better chance for rain the
farther north you go, and warmer the farther south you go.

A strong cold front then approaches Sunday night and whips through
the area early Monday morning, bringing showers with strong wind
gusts early, then rain changing briefly to snow as it turns much
colder behind the front. There may be another brief shot of snow
later in the day with flurries Monday night, and upslope snow
showers may persist in the mountains through Monday night.

Strong winds also develop behind the front Monday and continue
Monday night into Tuesday. Peak gusts can exceed 35 mph across the
lowlands and 50 mph across the higher ridges.

Winter will be in full control next week, with a reinforcing
shot of arctic air to ring in the new year while assuring a
prolonged period of cold weather, along with another opportunity
 for snow.
