Another Round of Accumulating Snow Arrives Today into Tonight Across Portions of the Area

...........A VERY DRY AUGUST FOR THE NWS CHARLESTON FORECAST AREA..........

Compared to the 1991-2020 U.S. Climate Normals, it was a very dry August
across the NWS Charleston forecast area, with many locations ending up
well below normal for monthly precipitation, with departures generally
ranging from one to three inches. As is typical during the summer months,
precipitation totals varied significantly depending on location, ranging
from less than a quarter of an inch in some areas, to over three inches
in others. Four NWS Charleston climate locations made the top 10 in terms
of their driest August on record.

Mean temperature departures from normal across the forecast area varied,
ranging from approximately a degree above normal to two degrees below
normal, with the majority of the forecast area ending up slightly below
normal for August 2025.
