Flooding Threat Continues in Portions of Texas; Poor Air Quality in the Great Lakes through the Mid-Atlantic

Widespread life-threatening flash and urban flooding continues in south-central Texas, with considerable flooding impacts possible across central Texas. Wildfire smoke is impacting air quality across much of the Great Lakes region into southern New England and the Mid-Atlantic. Breezy winds and low daytime humidity across the Valley and foothills, alongside limited overnight humidity recovery in some locations will result in elevated fire weather conditions today, with most pronounced conditions expected across the northern Sacramento Valley and northeast foothills.
Seasonable temperatures are expected across the region through the weekend and into next week.
Breezy west-southwest winds persist over the next several days, with strongest winds expected in the Delta and Valley through the end of the week.
Summer Recreation Safety: Seek shelter in a sturdy building or car if storms develop, don’t take shelter under trees or pavilions, and avoid bodies of water. Protect your skin from the sun and stay hydrated. Wear a life jacket on the water.
