Heavy Snow in the Cascades and Northern Rockies; Wintry Mix in the Northeast; High Winds in Southern California

Two more cold fronts will pass through the Northwest U.S. this week with heavy mountain snow continuing across the Cascades, and northern Rockies. A quick moving storm system will bring mixed precipitation including some freezing rain across the Northeast U.S. today. Well above normal temperatures, reduced afternoon relative humidities and gusty southerly winds will combine to raise grassland fire weather concerns Wednesday afternoon.
Scattered thunderstorms will spread into portions of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Wednesday night through Thursday. A brief severe storm is possible with locally gusty winds and up to quarter size hail could accompany the strongest storms.
Scattered thunderstorms will sweep across the region on Thursday. There is a marginal risk of severe weather, with strong winds and hail being the main threats. The tornado threat remains very low but non-zero.
A few severe storms will be possible late Wednesday night through the day Thursday. The severe weather potential is expected to end by late afternoon or early evening Thursday.
Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms are forecast mainly Wednesday night through Thursday. Beneficial rainfall is forecast for many locations.
Moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorm chances begin tonight and continue into Thursday with an approaching storm system. Limited severe weather potential, mainly Thursday morning and afternoon. Above average temperatures persist Thursday. Colder temperatures this weekend into next week. Dry conditions expected this weekend into next week.
