Heat relief is on the way beginning Wednesday, but we have one last day of dangerous heat index values to get through on Tuesday. A Heat Advisory has been posted from Noon to 8 PM Tuesday for most of eastern Oklahoma and portions of northwest Arkansas. Continue to exercise caution while spending time outdoors, especially if engaged in strenuous activities.
Additional thunderstorm development is expected this afternoon. Thunderstorms may become strong to severe this afternoon and evening. Storm hazards include heavy rainfall leading to localized flash flooding, strong to severe wind gusts, and cloud-to-ground lightning.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to re-develop this afternoon and continue through the evening hours. Some of the stronger storms, especially during the afternoon hours, could be strong to severe with a damaging wind threat being the main concern.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast this afternoon and evening. Storms may produce heavy rainfall across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas leading to instances of flash flooding.
The threat of dangerous heat will continue Wednesday for at least part of southeast OK and west central AR. Areas to the north will begin to see some minor relief in the heat.
Hot weather continues for some of us Wednesday, but some relief will occur by week's end. It appears a more significant front will bring much below normal temperatures by early next week.
