Severe thunderstorm chances look to hold off until late this evening into the overnight hours across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Storms will be capable of producing hail up to the size of golf balls, wind gusts up to 70 mph and a low potential for tornadoes.
A strong storm system will bring severe weather potential to the region tonight into Tuesday. Thunderstorms are expected to develop in western Oklahoma/ north Texas late this afternoon. These storms will move east-northeast through this evening, likely weakening as they approach eastern Oklahoma. However, there is a low potential for severe weather in southeast Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas this evening as a result. The more likely threat for severe storms is still expected to occur overnight tonight as a cold front advances east. These storms will sweep across the region into Tuesday morning with a continued severe threat.
The potential for severe storms will linger into Tuesday afternoon as the responsible Pacific cold front moves through the region. All modes of severe weather are still possible.
.Tonight...Showers likely and chance of thunderstorms. Lows 60 to 69.
