Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected during the early to middle part of next week across eastern Oklahoma and northwest and west central Arkansas, leading to an increased potential for heavy rain and flooding. Continue to monitor forecasts this weekend and into next week, especially if you live in a flood prone area.
An approaching cold front is expected to focus widely scattered, mainly afternoon thunderstorms today across NE OK. Severe weather is not expected, but any storms that develop will produce locally heavy downpours and strong wind gusts.
Hot and predominantly dry weather will prevail across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through this weekend. Afternoon heat indices will range from 92 to 103 degrees today and from 86 to 96 degrees Sunday. As we head into next week, some big weather changes are expected.
