You may have heard that it will turn quite hot next week. Well, before that, a fairly strong Pacific front, especially by June’s standards, will move in Sunday afternoon, bringing wet weather to much of the forecast area Sunday night into Monday. Wettest areas will be along the coast, but even most areas from the Cascades west will get wetting rainfall. Rain amounts east of the Cascades will be lower, with little or no rain at all in portions of southern Modoc County, but the front will bring cooling area wide before the significant warm-up by mid next week.
If the last few summers have taught us anything, smoke is becoming a bigger part of our lives during fire season. Smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your lungs and make it hard to breathe. Here are some tips to help make your home a defensible space to smoke:

  • Fix broken seals on windows and doors.
  • Stock up on air filters for your home, look for ones that filter fine particulates, but will not restrict air flow of your cooling systems.
  • Make sure your air conditioning unit is in good working condition.
  • Consider purchasing a portable HEPA filter to create a cleaner air room.
