There are 2 ways to get information from this map:

  • Entering a lat/lon in decimal degrees in the appropriate boxes.
  • Clicking on the map.

After that, 3 or 4 tabs will open up below the map:

  • If there are Red Flag Warnings or Fire Weather Watches on the clicked area, the text for those will show up in the first tab. Otherwise this tab will not show up.
  • A tab with the Fire Weather Forecast Discussion and the forecast for the Fire Weather Zone clicked upon will be in the second tab.
  • A color coded Fire Weather Matrix will show up in the next tab. Some offices have created custom thresholds for the matrix. Otherwise, "default" parameters will be used. Note: This information covers the area on the map within the "green square".
  • The final tab has a 3 hourly point forecast matrix for the next 6 days. Note: This information covers the area on the map within the "green square".
  • Sometimes, a second click is required to get the map to react.
